NORTH COAST OPEN 2001 RESULTS

The 7th Annual "North Coast Open," sponsored by the Toledo Naturalists' Association, ended at 9 PM Saturday night (May 19, 2001) at the Blackberry Corner's Restaurant, after 21 hours of team birding.

The highest team totals in the divisions competing for the traveling Peregrine Cup were The Birders of Prey (Junior Division) with 74 species; this voracious team was captained by Jim Witter and included teammates Patrick Witter, Sam Corbo, and Lindsay Sanzenbacher. The Geri-Falcons again captured the Senior Division (67 species); this veteran team consists of Peter and Polly White and John and Adelaide Morse. The Volunteers  (Eric Durbin, Greg Links, and Elliot Tramer) finished first in the Open Division with 141 species (it was a slow day). Consequently, possession of the Peregrine Cup was turned over to The Volunteers for safekeeping until next year's event. Runners-up in the Open Division were the BG Bird Hunters with a total of 131 species.
