NORTH COAST OPEN 2003 RESULTS


The 9th annual North Coast Open, sponsored by the Toledo Naturalists' Association, ended at 9 PM Saturday night (May 17) at the Blackberry Corner's Restaurant. The Open Division finishers (and their species totals) were Trail Blazers, 169 species (all-time high total for the NCO); Bird Dogs, 143; Woodcocks, 141; Fly By Nights, 131; and Sylvania Twitchers, 119. In the Junior Division, the finishers were Killer Kestrels, 114, and Birders of Prey, 107. The Freestyle Division teams were Swarm of Andersons, 151; Mark Miller’s Maniacs, 139; Bluebirds, 109; and Late Risers, 73. Congratulations to the Trail Blazer team of Becky, Brad, and Jeff Cullen and Greg Links for winning the Peregrine Cup. (Greg Links shown exuberant in photo above)

Congratulations to all participants! Among the total combined list for all groups of 191 species were some stellar birds including American White pelican, White-faced ibis, Laughing gull, and Least tern.
