Israel: A Natural History Oasis

Please join Elliot Tramer and Chris Manzey who recently traveled from the Golan Heights to the West Bank and the Negev Desert to study natural and cultural features.
Israel is a small country, about the size of New Jersey, with a relatively diverse topography consisting of lengthy coastal plains, highlands in the north and central areas, and the Negev Desert in the south. Running from north to south along Israel’s eastern border is a portion of the Great Rift Valley that runs from Mozambique (in Africa) to Lebanon. Along the floor of this Valley are familiar sites such as the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee. Wildlife abounds in reserves set aside by the Israeli government and in canyons (called wadis). Israel also is a critical stop-over for millions of eastern European and Asian birds heading to Africa to over-winter.

Please Note: our venue has changed to the Secor Room at Secor Metropark.
