Birding Adventures and Conservation at the Toledo Zoo

Our Speaker: Jeremy Dominguez, Birding Outreach Coordinator and Ornithologist at the Toledo Zoo.

Jeremy will be speaking on his role at the Toledo Zoo as well as some conservation projects. He will also be giving us a glimpse into his record breaking Big Year he completed in 2020.

Bio: Jeremy became interested in birds while in Alaska serving in the US Navy. When back in Ohio his interest quickly grew to obsession. Jeremy did an “Ohio Big Year” in 2015 to get acquainted with the birds of his home state. In 2016 and 2017 Jeremy traveled the US seeking out birds. Jeremy went back to school and graduated from Hocking College with a degree in Ecotourism and Adventure Travel. In 2020 Jeremy did a “Lower 48 US Big Year” and set the record for it with 724 species. Jeremy has since spread his wings to international travel exploring places like China, S. Korea, Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico and The Bahamas. Since February of 2022 Jeremy has taken the position of Birding Outreach Coordinator and Ornithologist at The Toledo Zoo and Aquarium. As well as his work duties he is also an Ebird reviewer for the Greater Toledo area as well as the Northwest Director for The Ohio Ornithological Society.
