Field Trip

Saturday, August 22, 2026
9:00 – 10:30 am

Corner of Girdham & Reed Rds.
Oak Openings Metropark
Swanton, OH

Please join Elliot Tramer and Chris Manzey for a leisurely bird/nature walk through the breeding territory of a population of Red-headed Woodpeckers. These open oak woodlands are home to a variety of colorful species such as Indigo Buntings, Bluebirds, Chats, Summer Tanagers, and Towhees. Birds are not the only targets, as late summer wildflowers will be abloom.

Meet at a small parking area near the corner of Girdham and Reed (where the old Reed Road meets Oak Openings Parkway).

Mosquito and tick populations are fairly low this late in the season.
