Tour of Sandhill Crane Wetlands Restoration Area

Please join Pete Blank, Northwest Ohio Restoration Manager for The Nature Conservancy in Ohio, for a hike at the Sandhill Crane Wetlands restoration area on the Kitty Todd Nature Preserve. In just three years after construction and seeding, the Sandhill Crane Wetlands has become a thriving grassland community and one of the best places to see grassland birds in Ohio. Join us to look for grassland specialists such as vesper, grasshopper, and savanna sparrow, dickcissel, bobolink, horned lark, and more. We’ll also look for wet and upland prairie plants and discuss previous restoration at the site and management plans for the future. Bring binoculars and a spotting scope if you have one. We will be walking off trail most of the time. Please wear rubber boots if you can and prepare for walking on uneven ground. You may also want to bring sunblock, insect repellent, and drinking water.
