Greening UToledo Through Service Learning (GUTS) is a student project at the University of Toledo working to reduce turf grass and increase biodiversity by planting native plants. Join us for a look behind the scenes of GUTS, where Dr. Todd Crail works to involve undergraduate students through service learning events giving them hands-on experience to connect with their classroom learning.
Dr. Todd Crail is a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Toledo. He joined UToledo in 2012 and has established a record as an outstanding and dedicated educator who uses innovative and experiential teaching strategies to engage students, such as in the greenhouse, rain and native gardens at UToledo, and in community gardens around the city, Toledo Metroparks, and nature preserves in the region.
He has published numerous peer-reviewed scholarly articles and presented work at local, state, and national venues. Crail has been recognized with the Edith Rathbun Service Award and UToledo OutstandingTeaching Award. In 2021 he was recognized as a Distinguished University Lecturer.
